Cleaning is important

The 3D scanner is a fundamental tool in your laboratory. Being a sophisticated and high-precision measuring instrument, every now and then it is a good habit to perform some small operations to keep it clean both externally and internally.

As far as external cleaning is concerned, there are no peculiar precautions to take into consideration. However, for no reason the cameras and the projector must be touched or cleaned with rags or detergent products. Only if strictly necessary (in case there is a lot of dust accumulated), it is possible to use a jet of compressed air with little pressure, so as not to create problems for the optical unit. On the other hand, the external cover can be cleaned with a soft cloth moistened with non-aggressive cleaning products or water.

Once this is done, it is a good idea to also remove the residual dust that has penetrated inside the cover by cleaning the X limit switch (which may be subject to accumulation of dust) and the entire internal part.

To do this, the scanner covers should be removed to access the inside of the scanner.

For this internal cleaning you can follow the demonstration video below, which illustrates the whole procedure.

It is also important to know that any operation carried out on the scanner can cause damage to it, if not done with adequate care and attention to the internal parts of the scanner.
